The Story. SELLING COMBS TO THE MONKS.
A Comb Manufacturing Company advertised for a Sales Manager.
Many applied but to qualify to attend a final interview, they have to carry out a task.
The Task : Selling Combs to Monks in Temples.
Only three applicants were prepared to take up the task. (Messrs A, B, and C)
After a week they came back for the interview.
The Interviewer asked A
How many did you sell?
A : Only one.
How did you manage to sell?
A : The monks in the temples scolded me when I showed them the combs. But on my way back I met a young monk who brought it to scratch his head due to dandruff.
The Interviewer asked B
How many did you sell?
B : 10 pieces, sir.
I went to a shrine and noticed many devotees’ hair was ruffled because of wind.
The monk listened to my advice and bought 10 combs for use by the devotees.
The Interviewer asked C
And how about you?
C : 1,000 pieces sir.
Astounded the Interviewer asked
How did you manage that?
C : I went to a famous temple. After observing a few days, I noticed there were many tourists.
“Sifu, these tourists are devoted. If only you can give them a gift.
I’ve a bulk of combs here. You can give them away as souvenir”.
The priest was delighted and ordered straight away 1,000 pieces.
Moral of the Story..

Remember the story of Selling Shoes to Africans?
When two salespersons were sent to that continent, one said
“cannot do it. No one wears shoes there”.
The other said,
“It is a good market….a lot of opportunities”
Success or Failure is dependent on how we challenge problems.
Dalai Lama once said. If you only have smooth sailing in life, you will be weak.
Teething troubles help to shape you up, to have the guts to resolve problems.
Remember.
When the economy is good, there are people going bankrupt.
When business is bad, there are new millionaires made as well.
The world is undergoing financial turmoil.
Build a better tomorrow for yourself.
Apply the 85% right working attitude fully.
