根据星洲日报的报道，中央政府将展延大马第九计划中多项的巨型计划！其中包括槟岛原本耗资约20亿的单轨火车计划和槟道外环公路计划，即Penang Outer Ring Road（PORR）。此举目的是要优先推行有利于低收入的人民计划。
根据该文章也说，首相将在今早即26日在国会下议院提呈的大马第九计划中检讨报告，将寻找批准增加300亿令吉的拨款，以额外推行一些应急计划。消息也传道，此举不是要“教训”槟城的人民不把神圣的一票投给国阵。但，一切都还是未知数。

PENANG: The state Umno will “persuade” the Federal Government to scrap all the mega projects in the state in view of the people’s clear rejection of Barisan Nasional.
Since Penangites do not want development, the Federal Government should not force it on them, said state Umno liaison committee secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim.
He said that this was not Penang Umno taking revenge “but we are actually giving the people what they want”.

"Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department today said that the RM2 billion Penang Monorail and RM1.5 billion Penang Outer Ring Road have been shelved.

According to EPU director-general Dr Sulaiman Mahbob, projects that are not people-centred under the original Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) will be put on hold or deferred.
He confirmed to reporters at the Parliament lobby today that the two projects have been deferred."
